Privacy for Students

Effective Date: September 2026

Preppo is here to help you learn, practise and understand your schoolwork.

When you use Preppo, you share some information with us. We think you should understand what happens to that information, so we've explained it here without lots of complicated legal words.

What does “privacy” mean?

Privacy is about keeping your personal information safe and giving you control over it.

Personal information is information that can tell someone something about you. It might include your name, age, email address, school year, things you tell Preppo or information about how you use Preppo.

What does Preppo know about me?

When you use Preppo, we may receive information such as:

  • your name or profile name
  • your age or school year
  • the subjects and topics you're learning
  • questions you ask Preppo
  • your answers and learning progress
  • conversations you have with Preppo
  • homework, images or files you choose to share
  • information about how you use Preppo

We use this information to help Preppo work and give you learning support that is more useful for you.

Why does Preppo need this information?

Preppo is designed to be your study buddy. Knowing what you're learning and where you might need some extra help can help Preppo:

  • explain school topics to you
  • give you helpful hints when you're stuck
  • choose questions and activities that suit your learning
  • understand what you've practised and how you're progressing
  • help keep Preppo safe for students
  • improve how Preppo works

We try to collect only the information we need to provide and improve Preppo.

What should I NOT tell Preppo?

Even though Preppo is designed with students in mind, you should still be careful about what you share online.

Please don't tell Preppo things it doesn't need to know, such as:

  • your password
  • your home address
  • your phone number
  • your parents' payment or banking details
  • passwords for your school or other accounts
  • private information about another person

If Preppo doesn't need the information to help you learn, it's usually better not to share it.

Is Preppo a person?

No. Preppo uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help you learn.

It can explain things, ask questions and help you work through problems, but it isn't a person, parent, teacher, tutor, counsellor or friend.

AI can also make mistakes.

If something Preppo tells you seems wrong, confusing or worrying, talk to a parent/s or guardian you trust.

What if I talk about something that isn't schoolwork?

Preppo is designed for learning. If a conversation moves into inappropriate, unsafe or very personal topics, Preppo may try to stop or redirect the conversation.

Some things are better discussed with a real person who knows and cares about you.

If you're worried, upset or need help with something happening in your life, please talk to a parent/s, guardian or another trusted adult.

Does Preppo just give me the answers?

We want Preppo to help you learn, not do your work for you.

Sometimes Preppo may give you hints, ask you questions or help you work through a problem step by step instead of immediately giving you the answer. That's intentional.

Learning how to solve the problem yourself is more important than simply getting the answer.

Can my parent/s or guardians see information about my learning?

Preppo may provide your parent/s or guardians with information about your learning and use of Preppo.

For example, they may be able to see things such as the subjects you've worked on, your learning progress or information about your study sessions.

We want you and your parent/s or guardians to understand what information is available to them.

Do other companies help Preppo work? Yes. Like most online services, Preppo may use trusted technology providers to help us operate the service. For example, companies may help us provide AI technology, store information, keep Preppo secure or understand whether the service is working properly.

We expect companies that handle information for us to protect it appropriately.

You can find more information about the companies we use and how information is handled in our Privacy Policy.

Do you sell my personal information?

No. We do not sell students' personal information. Your learning should not come at the cost of your privacy.

Does Preppo use my information for advertising?

We do not use students' personal information to show them targeted advertising. Preppo is a learning environment, not an advertising platform.

Does Preppo use my conversations to train AI?

Our Privacy Policy explains whether conversations and other information are used to improve Preppo or AI systems and what choices you and your parent/s or guardians have.

How long does Preppo keep my information?

We don't want to keep personal information for longer than we need it.

Different types of information may need to be kept for different amounts of time so we can operate Preppo, keep accounts secure, meet legal requirements and provide learning features.

Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.

Can my information be deleted?

You or your parent/s or guardians can contact us if you want to ask about the information we have about you or request that information be corrected or deleted.

Sometimes there may be legal or technical reasons why we need to keep certain information for a period of time. If that happens, we'll explain why.

What if I have a question about my privacy?

Questions are welcome. If there's something you don't understand about what Preppo does with your information, ask your parent/s or guardians to contact us.
